Referendum Results 18 May

The votes have been counted from today’s referendum, the results are as follows:

  • For the motion: 76
  • Against the motion: 100
  • Abstentions: 12

A two thirds majority of the fors and againsts was required for this motion to pass (not including abstentions), so it is 56.8% against, and 43.2% for. Therefore the motion has not passed.

Thank you all for voting, more elections soon for the Freshers’ week president and committee, Social sec, Entz rep, and charities ballot!

Also, since this information is available to us, you may be interested – today’s vote comprised of 166 JCR votes, and 22 MCR votes (who are also full voting members of the JCR).

Freshers’ Week Elections

Nominations are now open for Freshers’ Week President. They will close on Tuesday of 6th week, with hustings on Wednesday, and the election on Thursday. If you would like to run for president, sign up on the sheet in the JCR and start putting together a manifesto!

The Freshers’ Week committee elections will be the following week, on Thursday of 7th.

The JCR photo is on Tuesday at 12 noon! Please make the effort to come along, it would be great to have a huge number of us there.
Bring along fancy dress for the fun photo afterwards, and sports kit if you are having a team photo taken.
