Congratulations to all of you on getting your grades! You’ll get all the details on Freshers’ Week when you arrive here in Oxford, but don’t forget your school uniform for the classic ‘Back to School’ night out! We’re all really excited to meet you come October. Get in touch with any questions, however seemingly irrelevant, by emailing
OUSU will be hosting a screening of Miss Representation on Saturday of 1st Week in the Examination Schools.
Miss Representation is a film that explores how the media’s misrepresentations of women have led to the underrepresentation of women in positions of power and influence. Premiered at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival, and aired on OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network), this film has led to an important and high profile education campaign in the US and is going global. For more information, see the Facebook event.
Please email with “tickets” in the email subject, stating how many tickets you would like, if you wish to attend.
I encourage anybody to attend – it promises to be an eye-opener!
So we’ve just proudly announced Jesus’ first ever Welfare Week! In 1st week of Michaelmas the JCR Committee will be bringing to you a series of exercise sessions (yoga, meditation, cycling, zumba, tai chi), fun-yet-relaxing night-time events (karaoke, pub quiz, bingo night, cheese & wine mixer, cocktail mixing, movie nights), and lots and lots of opportunities to get free food from the JCR. Not to mention Chlamydia Testing! (Each test taken will raise £5 for the JCR).
Take a look here for the timetable, and make sure to come to some of the events to de-stress from the horror that is the first essay deadlines of term!
Welfare Week guides, complete with information about your college & JCR welfare team, as well as a timetable and welfare contacts across the university, will be pidged to Freshers at the end of Freshers week and will be available in the JCR for all others who’d like to have a look.
Click here to see the Facebook page.
The Freshers week timetable has now been added to the site and can be found here. Take a look to see what’s coming up!
As promised the Termcard for Michaelmas is now online for your perusing pleasure! It’s just a draft at the moment as college have to approve everything, but it should give you a nice idea of what’s coming up .
Click the link to the left of this post to have a look at it, or here should work too.
Freshers Week timetable coming soon.
Lots of love,
Freshers’ week is now less than 3 weeks away so hopefully until then we’ll be able to get the site buzzing with lots of stuff to keep the new Freshers excited. I’m going to try to post about exciting things as they get confirmed so watch this space. Hopefully by the end of this week we’ll have the Freshers’ week timetable online, and maybe even the Termcard too, so do keep an eye out.
If any incoming (or continuing) students have any questions, please feel free to contact me on (or my college email which can be found on the committee page) and I’ll be happy to help.
In other news- if you’re living out this year please let me know; there’s a big uni-wide initiative beginning that OUSU needs your help with.
I hope you’re all really excited for Freshers- it’s gonna be incredible. I promise.
Lots of love, and see you very soon!
Just to let you know that the FB page and website page for the Junior Members’ Scholarship are now up! Take a look here and here for more info!
Congratulations to all newbie graduates on their great exams results! So good that they’ve managed to move Jesus up 2 places in the Norrington Table. Click here to take a look at this year’s table.
Just a reminder to check your emails from this week if you haven’t already done so- there’s an email from me there about letters to college children which is URGENT, so please have a look.
Hope you’re having a nice vac!
Hello everyone, long time no speak.
Wonderful news- the JCR Constitution has finally been updated with all those lovely changes we made last term. For those whose memories are strained- new Equal Opportunities Committee, Access and Academic Affairs Committee, Scholarship Rep, Equal Opps Rep, and a little bit more.
BUT our lovely IT Rep is Mac-less for the coming week so it won’t be updated on the website for a little while. If you’re dying to see it (ha) just email me and I’ll send you a copy.
In other JCR news, Beanzy’s Bikes is almost up and running! I am told it will be in full flow by the time all the lovely new freshers arrive. Woop woop.
Also, there will soon be two new pages on the website- one with full details about Freshers Week as they get confirmed (incoming Freshers- watch this space) , and one for Oli to keep you updated on all things sporty.
That’s all for now. Hope you’re all enjoying summer!
