The Oxford Guild is delighted to be hosting a very special guest, Leomie Anderson, Victoria’s Secret Model, Activist, Entrepreneur, for a very exciting, highly topical and truly unique talk from 7.30pm on Tuesday 9th May (3rd wk) in Christ Church College’s Blue Boar Lecture Theatre. This is a truly exciting and exclusive opportunity to hear and ask questions of a high profile speaker from the world of fashion and activism and the discussion promises to be topical and engaging.
The event will also serve as a launch for the Guild’s Infinity Speakers Series, a unique and special speaker series embracing diversity and targeted at encouraging women and ethnic minorities to believe that they can succeed in any occupation they choose, and making sure that they have positive role models to which they can aspire. This is part of a wider drive to promote diversity and inclusion amongst students and society in general. In the wake of a recent surge in racial tensions and divisive policies, we are fighting back against discrimination and striving to create a positive culture of belief that students can do anything they want to, regardless of their gender, ethnicity or background. This is something that we really want to bring into focus, in Oxford and across the country and world, to ensure that everybody feels able to pursue their dreams. The Oxford Guild is an organisation committed to levelling the playing field when it comes to students’ opportunities in life, and this is something we hold as a core value throughout anything we do. This initiative is our latest in a series of activities pursued to encourage inclusion and equality.
